My inspiration to teach comes from many different places. there has never really been one thing that inspired me to become a teacher, but many different people and experiences with people that made me think that i might want to become a teacher. When i was in high school/early college, and people would ask me what i wanted to do with myself i always gave them a look that said i have absolutely no idea. but there always that inkling in my mind that said i think i might want to become a teacher. I had no idea what it took to get there, in fact, i didn't really know why i even wanted to be a teacher. school for the rest of my life was not exactly the prospect that won me over. all i knew was that i wasn't automatically rejecting the idea like i had done with so many other suggestions for my life. as i began to look further into my career choice, i began to think about the people that got me to the point i was at already; my parents, coaches, friends and teachers. I definitely didn't want to become a parent just yet, and i was already a good friend, both of which were helpful in my development as a person. i thought about my favorite classes in high school and where i wanted to go, i realized that my favorite classes weren't particularly in one subject, but a whole range of them. I loved english when i had Mrs. Matone, history when i had Mr. Labarbera and Mr. Edmonds, math when i had Mr. James, and Science when i had Mr. Laplante, and Dr. Macgower. I realized it wasn't the course material that made my high school career semi-successful but it was the teachers that made me look forward to their class everyday. that was when i realized that i wanted to become a teacher, when i realized that its not the courses that make school good or bad, it is the teachers and how they are able to convey the course material in a way that is both interesting and fun. Plus, summers off don't hurt.
